Event Details
Save your spot to join Sarah Pratt, the Iowa State Fair's butter sculptor, for a special program at the museum on Tuesday, December 29, 2026 at 11 a.m. During the hands-on program, hear from Sarah what it's like to sculpt the butter cow each year, and then each participant will try their hands at creating their very own butter sculpture using a provided stick of butter. This is a fun (and a little messy) hands-on activity.

In 2006, Sarah Pratt became the Iowa State Fair's fifth butter sculptor. Besides at the fair, her work was recently on display in the “State Fairs: Growing American Craft” exhibit at the Renwick Gallery, the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s branch location for contemporary craft.
Registration Details
Advance registration is required to attend this program. All learners, ages 6 and up, are welcome to attend this program.
