The Department of General Services was created in 1971 by the 64th General Assembly to provide general services to state government previously performed by the Executive Council, State Printing Board, State Car Dispatcher, and Buildings and Grounds Department. General Services was renamed Administrative Services in 2003 via HF 534 (see also RG 122).
