Objects

The object collection has more than 80,000 items that document Iowa history — from airplanes to marbles, minerals to quilts — each object tells a story about the state's history. The objects are cared for and exhibited by the State Historical Museum of Iowa and partner institutions.

Research

Browse objects in the collection using the online catalog. If you would like to conduct onsite research using the Objects Collection please contact us. Access to objects in the collection is granted at the discretion of the State Historical Society of Iowa.

Loans

Objects in the collection are available for loan to peer institutions for education and exhibits. Loans are not made to individuals. Please contact us for more information about the loan process.
