Description

This report was made by General Winfield Scott on his orders to remove the Cherokee from the State of Georgia. In these orders from 1838, Scott makes clear that the Cherokee are to be treated respectfully, but he acknowledges that conflict might arise because of either Cherokee resistance or mistreatment by U.S. soldiers.
