Historical Records Board
Iowa Historical Records Advisory Board (IHRAB)
Most states have a State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB). Iowa’s SHRAB was originally established in 1976 and today operates under Iowa law and in accordance with the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) regulations as a function of the State Historical Society of Iowa Board of Trustees. The seven member board currently serves as the central advisory body for historical records planning in the state, a coordinating body to facilitate cooperation among historical records repositories and other Iowa information agencies and as a review body for grant proposals.
