Renovations at the State Historical Building of Iowa are taking place now through fall 2023. The building will remain open to the public during regular hours, but visitors may notice some temporary changes. If you’re planning a visit, please check this page for updates.

Museum & Cafe Hours

Please note: The State Historical Museum of Iowa will be closed Friday, Aug. 18, for construction work. The Iowa History Research Center in Des Moines will be open regular hours. Access to the Research Center is available on the east entrance.

Complimentary parking is available in the State Capitol Complex Parking Garage located at Pennsylvania Ave. and Grand Ave. Metered street parking is also available.
