Construction is underway in the photograph on new South wing for Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, during July of 1957. Mercy Hospital was started in 1893 by the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic charity. The population of Des Moines in 1960 was 208,982, and the population in 2010 was 203,433.
