Join railroad historian H. Roger Grant to learn how Western Iowa became an epicenter for shortline railroads between 1907 and 1913. Multiple communities, including Atlantic, Clarinda, Creston, Red Oak, and Treynor, built independent carriers, which failed in the 1920 and 1930s.

Join art historian James Swensen to explore Iowa through the divergent views of two artists. When Russell Lee traveled to Iowa in December 1936, he might have expected to find something out of a Grant Wood painting.
