Twilight Cluster: A Western Iowa Railroad Phenomenon

Join railroad historian H. Roger Grant to learn how Western Iowa became an epicenter for shortline railroads between 1907 and 1913. Multiple communities, including Atlantic, Clarinda, Creston, Red Oak, and Treynor, built independent carriers, which failed in the 1920 and 1930s. Still, these railroads had a positive impact on their service areas and reflected the desire for better transportation before the triumph of motor vehicles and all-weather roads.
