Professional development and networking series offered for Iowa artists, nonprofits and communities
DES MOINES – A new series of Iowa Arts Council "ArtUps" kick off this month with five new online and in-person training sessions about branding, fundraising, business models, public art and grant-writing for artists, nonprofits and communities.
The Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, created ArtUps in 2014 to provide free professional development and networking opportunities for Iowa artists and arts organizations.
“We want to ensure Iowa artists and arts professionals not only have the opportunity to perform at a high level creatively, but have access to the tools, resources and expertise to help sustain their careers and organizations in Iowa," Iowa Arts Council Administrator Matt Harris said.
ArtUps are free but pre-registration is required. Participants are encouraged to organize viewing parties in their communities to watch the online webinars together as a group of arts professionals.

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs and its three divisions – the Iowa Arts Council, Produce Iowa - State Office of Media Production and the State Historical Society of Iowa – empower Iowa to build and sustain culturally vibrant communities by connecting Iowans to the people, places and points of pride that define our state. The department’s work enables Iowa to be recognized as a state that fosters creativity and serves as a catalyst for innovation where the stories of Iowa are preserved and communicated to connect past, present and future generations.
