Teacher Appreciation NightTeacher Appreciation Night
Every day, educators go above and beyond to help students develop skills they need for success. So we’re inviting educators - traditional, pre-service, retired, non-traditional, home school, pre-school and college - to join us for Teacher Appreciation Night!

Educators will enjoy:
-Learning about Free Educator Resources provided by the State Historical Society of Iowa that connect to the State Social Studies Standards.
-Enjoying the exhibits at the State Historical Museum.
-Connect with exhibitors from cultural organizations and learn how they can support you and your classroom. Exhibitors include The World Food Prize, Richard O. Jacobson Center for Comprehensive Literacy, Iowa Public Television and many more.
-Networking with fellow educators of all grade levels and subject areas.
-Entering raffle drawings for prizes (must be present to win).
-Live music from Chris Powell- Piano Entertainment, a complimentary taco bar, and cash-only bar

Integrating Social Studies and Literacy Connections into K-5 Classrooms
Explore the best practices for integrating social studies and literacy into your K-5 classrooms. Participants will receive exclusive access to the museum’s primary sources - both archives and collection objects - as well as learn from teacher facilitators who will model best practices for using primary sources and inquiry in elementary classrooms. Participants will work closely with the museum education’s digital and print social studies and literacy resources, such as Goldie’s History Kits.  Participants will walk away with resources and lesson plans to implement in their classrooms.
